North Lee County Relay for Life
The North Lee County Relay for Life event was held on Friday, August 28, 2015. North Lee County raised over $52,000 and Lee County Bank & Trust's relay team raised over $4,100. This made Lee County Bank & Trust's team the number one team in fund raising for the second year in a row. We owe our success to the community who purchased our Holiday platters, bracelets, koozies, raffle tickets, made donations, etc.. The team also had several events that employees participated in. During the year, several employees served breakfast or lunch for a donation, and had several jean days for employees for a $5 donation.
Lee County Bank is "Banking on Shoes"
An employee at Lee County Bank came up with an idea to provide shoes for students in need in the Fort Madison Community School district. They mentioned the idea to a few employees and these employees pooled their money together and purchased a few pairs of shoes that very day. As word spread around the bank, bank management decided to take the idea and expand on it and it became "Banking on Shoes". This became a special project for the bank, bank employees and the community. During the month of August, over 100 pairs of shoes, dozens of pairs of socks and monetary donations were collected at all three bank locations. On top of that, the bank also made a monetary donation to use towards the purchase of additional shoes as the need arises. The bank continues to have canisters available for donations to purchase additional shoes which are delivered to each school as needed. "Nothing you do for children is ever wasted." -Garrison Keillor

Lee County Bank employees served cake and homemade ice cream at the recent Bloodhound Boosters cake auction. The theme of the auction was "On the Big Screen" so the bank chose, "A League of Their Own" as our theme. It depicted some of the school's more well-known and beloved coaches over the years.
Shuckfest 2015 - West Point, Iowa
Shucking 16 tons of sweet corn. Hundreds of volunteers came to shuck corn and a party broke out!
During Community Bank Month, Lee County Bank took on several special projects to help PAW, the food pantry and the library. Customers and employees donated much needed items for PAW and the food pantry. Because both of these organizations also needed monetary funds to either pay for vet bills or to buy fresh meat, the employees held jean days where they paid $5 to wear jeans on certain days during the month. The food pantry and PAW each received a check for over $150 to put towards these items. The money was presented to PAW and the food pantry along with the other donated items. One bank employee held a book drive and asked bank employees bring in books to donate to the Fort Madison Public Library to sell at the "Friends of the Library" fund raiser to generate funds to purchase new books for the library. Over 200 books were collected during the book drive.
